Sonya has always been interested in indigenous cultures and how their spiritual beliefs impact their lives. Her gourd art is an expression of their beliefs and has evolved from her vessel collection "Spirit Bowls" to new collections including her "Chief's Blanket Series". She uses leather dyes, acrylic paints, carving and woodburning tools, feathers, precious stones and other objects from nature.
